Minorite Monastery of St Francis and the Cloister
If you explore the winding streets of Piran long enough you just might come across beautiful Minorite Monastery of St Francis which was founded approximately somewhere before 1301.
The monastery is also the home to various art pieces such as music literature, and books. In fact, some books even date back to the 15 century! What’s even more peculiar is that the Franciscans are living in the monastery to this day. They need to keep an eye out for the building and it’s perimeters.
Another speciality of the place is the acoustics, which are truly one of a kind, and a recommendation of any traveller who’s been in Piran. As a result of great acoustics, the cloister has become a famous venue for musical events .
The last gem of the place is the entrance to the Pinacotheca, just a few steps from the cloister. There you can find colourful paintings made by Venetian artists.
The bottom line is that the Minorite Monastery is a famous and relaxing “tourist hotspot”, that you definitely should visit when travelling to Piran in the future.
